Hold Your Own Sunday School Parade

Looking for a special event to use with your Rally Day or to kick-off a special Sunday school campaign? Well, here’s an old idea with some new twists – hold a Sunday school parade! Sunday school parades were quite popular about 100 years ago when Sunday school conventions and similar events were often concluded with the participants marching through the streets, carrying banners and singing as a witness to the community.

Today, we might not be able to do anything on such a grand scale, but how about holding your own Sunday school parade around your church or through your parking lot? Have each children’s class march as a group, carrying banners or dressed up like Bible characters. Adult classes could also have representatives carrying banners. Musicians could form small bands. You could even have "floats" created on children’s toy wagons. Encourage church members and persons from the community to come and enjoy the event. Remember, everybody loves a parade!
